Mark Hammond BSc(Hons) MCOptom, Optometrist
When he’s not in the practice, you’ll probably find he’s sloped off for a ride on one of his many bicycles – usually his custom-made titanium road bike, but also on his mountain bike around Bedgebury Forest single track.
Mark is also a keen DIY-er and gardener and has spent the last 11 years redesigning and renovating the family house and garden in Benenden.
He has been known to enjoy the occasional real ale or glass of Chapel Down wine whilst tending the barbecue.
Originally from County Down in Northern Ireland, Eimer is married to Mark – they have two daughters, one at university and the other at Cranbrook School.
On her days off you’ll find her out in the garden, tending to her soft fruit and vegetable beds whilst chatting to the resident cats and chickens.
She also likes to take Charlie and Ginny, the family pet cocker spaniels, out for long hikes in nearby Hemsted Forest.
Derek Griffiths FBDO, Dispensing Optician
Derek has over 30 years of experience in the optical profession (he doesn’t look old enough, does he?). He qualified as a dispensing optician in 1990 and joined The Hammond Optical Practice in 2001.
His friendly and empathetic approach is popular with patients and staff alike, though his sense of humour belongs in a bygone era!
Away from work Derek loves spending time with his daughter, and enjoys writing songs and listening to (mainly 1980s) music. He is also learning to play the ukulele. He is a keen Chelsea supporter and a Formula One enthusiast.
In the picture he is wearing Hoya MyStyle varifocal lenses in RockOptika frames.
